‘Enhanced Knowledge and Protection of the Giant Gippsland Earthworm’ project.

The Bass Coast Landcare Network and project partners (including SGLN) invite you to this exciting Giant Gippsland Earthworm community information and field day.

Giant Gippsland Earthworms are only found in an area roughly the size of 40,000 ha in South and West Gippsland, Victoria. The majority of its known current habitat is on farmland and farmers can play a vital role in its conservation and management. It is essential that farmers and land managers continue to work together to manage valuable habitat in ways that protect and enhance GGE habitat, ensuring that the earthworms continue to survive and thrive.

This community workshop will cover:

  • Giant Gippsland Earthworm distribution and biology
  • Habitat identification and management requirements
  • Landforms and associated Ecological Vegetation Classes (EVCs)
  • Modified revegetation planting lists and densities
  • Habitat sensitive management guidelines
  • A nearby farm walk to known Giant Gippsland Earthworm colonies

To RSVP please email Joel Geoghegan on joel.geoghegan@basscoastlandcare.org.au or call on 0409 705 652.
