SGLN NEWSLETTER APRIL 2024

CHAIR REPORT

This month, Cassie, Nick, Jane, Jo, Jen, Sam and I took up the opportunity to share some of our network’s achievements with councillors and staff from the South Gippsland Shire Council.
We had a great day, travelling to Koonwarra, Fish Creek and Walkerville in a mini-bus talking about the many contributions SGLN, its member groups and Landcare volunteers make to our community.
The three sites we chose to visit showcased partnerships, the diversity of our projects and approaches, and the synergies between good environmental management and successful farm businesses.
Thank you to Sue MIles and Kate Walsh from the Nerrena Tarwin Valley Landcare Group who showed us the work they have done at the Blackspur Creek Wetlands, and proactive farmers and Fish Creek Landcare Group members Sam Stringer, Gillian Nicoll and Joan and Rob Liley.
The bus trip generated lots of discussion about our shared objectives and the potential to work more with Council to achieve mutually beneficial goals. Watch this space!
Kind regards,
Jillian Staton
Chair
