Thirty three people braved freezing conditions on 3 May to come to our Adding Agroforestry to a Grazing Property field day at Bob and Robyn Gray’s farm in Warragul South. We heard Bob talk about why and how they’ve converted 40 acres of the sheep and beef farm to agroforestry, with support from the Gippsland Agroforestry Network. Here’s the spoiler – it’s important to do it properly (with monitoring, thinning and pruning), the grazing under the trees is valuable for stock, and financially it stacks up well against sheep and cattle grazing.
If you couldn’t make it to the field day, we’ve created a short video instead, check it out!
This project is supported by Melbourne Water through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program in partnership with South Gippsland Landcare Network.
