We’re finishing the financial year on a positive note with three items of news.
Council has allocated $50,000 to developing a memorandum of understanding for SGLN to carry out mutually beneficial environmental activities for our region. This is an amazing opportunity for us as it gives us the flexibility to target issues and areas that both organisations feel will bring real value to our community.
We are on the homeward stretch of our Biodiversity Protection Plan!!! Our community consultation attracted some great feedback which we have reviewed and where appropriate, incorporated into the final draft. It will soon be with a very talented graphic designer and we are all very excited to see the finished product. Thank you to our staff and working group members who have put so much time into this valuable project (it has already been used to support several grant applications!)
Our idea for a Tarwin Project has been welcomed by the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority. It’s still early days but we are confident that continued support from our Landcare Groups for Tarwin-themed projects will pay dividends. Please speak to Nick and Jane if you have an activity or project in mind – we even have some “Love the Tarwin” logos you can use for your promotional material.
Kind regards,
