BPP Feedback Period Open

BPP Feedback Period Open

South Gippsland Landcare Network has developed a Biodiversity Protection Plan for South Gippsland to guide a coordinated response for improving the natural environment in the region. We are seeking community and stakeholder feedback on the final draft.  77% of the remaining remnant vegetation and wildlife habitat in South Gippsland is located on private land which is why everyone’s participation is crucial.

The feedback period is open, and will run until Wednesday 12 June.

We’re holding a Community Information Session on Wednesday 5 June from 10am to 12noon at the Korumburra Community Centre. We’re holding a Community Information Session on Wednesday 5 June from 10am to 12noon at the Korumburra Community Centre.  REGISTER HERE.
Community and stakeholders are encouraged to read the draft Biodiversity Protection Plan (BPP) and provide feedback via sgln.net.au/bpp prior to or after the information session.

Jillian Staton, Chair of the South Gippsland Landcare Network says: “We’ve taken a collaborative approach to developing the BPP because we want everyone in the community to be able to play a part in protecting our natural assets, and to ensure we are all working towards the same goals.”

In 2021, South Gippsland Landcare Network identified the need for a BPP and brought together a broad cross-section of the community, from individuals and small community groups to large organisations, to discover what can and needs to be done to protect South Gippsland’s natural environment.  The BPP is an ambitious 10-year plan that identifies improvements needed to protect biodiversity in South Gippsland.

“We are extremely excited to be presenting the BPP to the public and thank everyone who has participated in our workshops and surveys, contributed data and reviewed drafts of the BPP. It has been a long process, and we are grateful to everyone for their time and support,” says Jillian.
